Tecu, RN, MSN, WHNP-BC, AOCNP, has announced her retirement. A respected clinician, educator, researcher, and mentor, Tecu leaves behind a legacy defined by compassion, scholarship, and unwavering advocacy for women facing gynecologic cancers.

Tecus nursing career began in 1966 following completion of her Associate Degree in Nursing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, New Jersey. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of MissouriSt. Louis later achieved board certification as a Womens Health Nurse Practitioner and an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner. Over the years, she held progressive clinical and leadership roles, including service at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois, before joining BJC Health System in St. Louis, where she became a cornerstone of gynecologic oncology care in collaboration with Washington University physicians.

From 2004 until her retirement, Tecu served as a Gynecologic Oncology Nurse Practitioner at BJC Health System, where she was a collaborative practice partner, first call for the gynecologic oncology outpatient chemotherapy unit, and a trusted guide for patients navigating complex cancer treatments. She co-led the Together Group, a monthly support group for gynecologic oncology patients, and initiated a research-driven outreach program to expand access for underserved women. Her leadership extended to education across Siteman Cancer Center and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, where she lectured at Nursing Grand Rounds, contributed to certification courses, and mentored countless nurses entering oncology practice.

A committed scholar, Tecu authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications in gynecologic oncology nursing and presented her research nationally, including at Oncology Nursing Society and Society of Gynecologic Nurse Oncologists conferences. In 2008, she was awarded the Jill Malen Excellence in Nursing Research Award and received a $10,000 donation to support a cervical cancer research project benefiting low-income women. Her earlier honors include the Nancy Sue Claypoole Oncology Nursing Award, the Shirley A. Martin Distinguished Nurse Award, and induction into the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. For nearly three decades, she chaired the Gynecologic Oncology Journal Club, fostering a culture of evidence-based practice and lifelong learning.

Throughout her career, Tecu was known not only for her clinical expertise but also for her deep humanity. She delivered high-quality, compassionate care to women undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and palliative treatment, often serving as a steady presence during lifes most vulnerable moments.
